March 22nd, 2011
So, you want to be involved, you want to advocate, but you do not know who your legislators are?
There is an easy way for you to find out: Simply click here and it will lead to to a page where you can type in your address. Then, press enter and your legislators, both State and Federal, will appear with all their contact information. It is that simple.
Here are some rules of thumb when contacting your legislator:
*Address them as Representative or Senator. If you speak with an aide, use Representative or Senator when referring to the legislator.
*Introduce yourself as a constituent.
*Be polite.
*Be prepared. Know the issue you called, email, or are writing about.
*Be clear and concise.
*Try to get the legislator or aide to state their position.
*Always thank the legislator or staff person for their time.
